GRACE NUTRITION AND COOKING CLUB
Our Vision
Grace Nutrition and Cooking Club (GNCC) provides a food and nutrition cooking club highlighting and tackling the high need of food security and stability throughout the GTA, primarily in Toronto and Brampton. Food security is defined as having consistent, reliable and safe access to nutritional food. We know it is not enough to be in the community, but we need to be the community and through our efforts of providing culturally responsive, holistic nutritional supports, we aim to accomplish what we believe we were sent to do- engage, collaborate and meet community where they are at.
Grace Nutrition and Cooking Club will:
• Provide weekly hot meals and bi-weekly grocery bags to families in Toronto and Brampton who need assistance in food safety. This will support families with meal preparation at home and snacks for children who are in school.
• Monthly seminar or capacity building workshops that focus dually on theory and practicum to promote and sustain healthy nutrition options and plans for families.
• Close the gap between families and the inability to access and sustain healthy eating lifestyles for wholesome human development and quality of life.
Our Desired and Anticipated Outcomes for this work are:
1. Provide a community food outlet that caters to individuals, families and the vulnerable population within the cities of Brampton and Toronto.
2. Reduce economic and social barriers to accessing healthy food choices.
3. Improve the knowledge of individuals in relation to nutrition and dietary options for better meal prep, development and endurance to food security.
4. Reduce prevalence of food instability and related health conditions in the Black community.
